The sun continues to shine, the temperatures—and heart rates—continue to rise, and at the 2026 Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby presented by Play Alberta, the entertainment has been second to none. On Night 8, defending champion Chanse Vigen and the visitlethbridge.com outfit earned their first Kirk’s Trail Tire Wheels on Fire Fast Time of the Night of this year’s Stampede with a penalty-free run of 1:10.88.

Starting from Barrel No. 2 in the ninth heat, Vigen posted the fastest time of the evening, edging Jason Glass by just 16 one-hundredths of a second. 2022 Rangeland Derby champion Kris Molle finished third on the night, Rae Croteau Jr. was fourth, and Obrey Motowylo rounded out the top five.

With just one night of preliminary racing remaining before the Championship Final Heat is set, Jamie Laboucane and the Panorama Advisory Group outfit continue to lead the overall aggregate standings with a combined eight-night time of 9:35.99. Laboucane holds a 2.13-second advantage over defending champion Chanse Vigen, while Jason Glass remains in the all-important third position. Chad Fike sits fourth overall, just over three seconds behind the top three, with Logan Gorst rounding out the top five after eight nights of competition.

The top three drivers in the aggregate standings following Saturday night’s racing on July 11 will advance to the Championship Final Heat. The winner of that heat will be crowned the 2026 Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby presented by Play Alberta Champion.
