It was another hot Thursday night in Calgary as Night 7 of the 2026 Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby presented by Play Alberta unfolded under partly cloudy skies and ideal track conditions. An enthusiastic crowd packed Stampede Park knowing the next three nights would determine which three drivers would advance to the Championship Final Heat. After the heats were reshuffled, Jamie Laboucane, driving the Panorama Advisory Group outfit, captured his third Kirk’s Trail Tire Wheels on Fire Fast Time of the Night with a blistering run of 1:10.18.
The top three runs of the evening all came out of the ninth heat. Coming off barrel number three, Laboucane crossed the finish line 0.84 seconds ahead of Jason Glass, while defending champion Chanse Vigen posted the third-fastest time. Logan Gorst and Cruise Bensmiller rounded out the night’s top five.
Laboucane’s nightly victory gave him an even firmer grip on the overall aggregate standings. His seven-day combined time of 8:24.56 leaves him 2.68 seconds ahead of Chanse Vigen, while Jason Glass has climbed into third place overall, nearly five seconds off the lead. Logan Gorst now sits fourth, approximately a second and a half behind Glass, while Rae Croteau Jr. slipped to fifth after incurring six seconds in penalties on Night 7.
With just two nights of qualifying remaining, every second will be crucial as drivers battle for one of three coveted spots in the Championship Final Heat. The top three drivers in the aggregate standings following racing on Saturday, July 11, will advance to the winner-take-all final, where the 2026 Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby presented by Play Alberta Championship will be decided.
