The Teepee Creek Stampede is set to feature six heats of chuckwagon racing each night, showcasing a mix of competitors from both the World Professional Chuckwagon Association (WPCA) and the Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Association (CPCA).

Leading the list of contenders is Luke Tournier, who currently sits 14th in the WPCA World Standings and enters the three-day aggregate competition as one of the favourites.
Few drivers in the history of chuckwagon racing can match Tournier’s impressive resume. His accomplishments include the 2016 World Chuckwagon Championship, two Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby titles, and multiple major show championships throughout his career.
Doug Irvine, currently 25th in the WPCA World Standings, will take on double duty at Teepee Creek by driving two wagons each night. Irvine will compete in both Heat 1 and Heat 6, giving fans two opportunities to watch one of the sport’s most accomplished veterans.
A five-time WPCA show champion, Irvine has claimed victories at prestigious events including the Ponoka Stampede and Grande Prairie Stompede. He also came heartbreakingly close to winning the 2012 Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby, finishing just one one-hundredth of a second behind the winner in the closest finish in the event’s history.

Heat 6 will feature another strong local favourite in Cody Ridsdale. The Fairview, Alberta driver, could consider Teepee Creek one of his hometown events and brings an impressive racing résumé that includes a Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede championship and a semi-final appearance at the Ponoka Stampede.
Joining Irvine and Ridsdale in Heat 6 is Dale Young, who will also drive two wagons throughout the three-day event. Young began his WPCA career as a Permit Driver before earning the 2024 WPCA Rookie Driver Award and has continued to establish himself as one of the sports rising competitors.
With WPCA and CPCA drivers competing over six heats each evening, fans can expect three nights of outstanding chuckwagon racing as competitors battle for the Teepee Creek Stampede aggregate championship.
The races will run Friday through Sunday. The first horn sounds nightly at 7:30 p.m.
