Jason Glass – Scores The Kirk’s Trail Tire Wheels on Fire Fast Time of the Night For The Second Consecutive Night

Weather-wise, it was almost a repeat of the previous night as hot, cloudy conditions greeted competitors on Night 6 of the 2026 Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby presented by Play Alberta. Once again, a capacity crowd packed Stampede Park to witness another thrilling evening of chuckwagon racing. When the dust settled, two-time Rangeland Derby Champion Jason Glass, driving the Birchcliff Energy Ltd. outfit, captured the Kirk’s Trail Tire Wheels on Fire Fast Time of the Night for the second consecutive evening with a blazing run of 1:11.14.
Coming off barrel number one in the eighth heat, Glass crossed the finish line 0.85 seconds ahead of Chad Fike to claim his second straight nightly victory. Jamie Laboucane posted the third-fastest time, followed by Dayton Sutherland in fourth, while four-time Rangeland Derby Champion Kurt Bensmiller rounded out the top five.
Despite Glass’s back-to-back victories, Jamie Laboucane and the Panorama Advisory Group outfit continue to lead the overall aggregate standings with a six-day combined time of 7:14.38. Laboucane increased his advantage over Chanse Vigen to 1.83 seconds, while Rae Croteau Jr. continues to hold down the all-important third position. Glass remains fourth overall, but the gap continues to shrink as he now sits just under two seconds behind the top three. Chad Fike rounds out the top five after six nights of racing.
The top three drivers in the aggregate standings following racing on Saturday, July 11, will advance to the Championship Final Heat. The winner of that heat will be crowned the 2026 Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby presented by Play Alberta Champion.
