There was plenty at stake on Night 9 of the Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby presented by Play Alberta, and under perfect weather and ideal racetrack conditions, the drivers delivered another thrilling evening of chuckwagon racing. When the final times were posted, the field was set for Sunday’s Championship Final Heat—and it will be a rematch of the 2025 final. Jamie Laboucane, Chanse Vigen, and Jason Glass have earned their way into the 2026 Championship Final Heat, marking the first time in Rangeland Derby history that the same three drivers have qualified for the Championship Final in consecutive years.

Jamie Laboucane secured the top qualifying position after posting the fastest nine-day aggregate time of 10:47.00. Defending champion Chanse Vigen qualified second overall with a total time of 10:49.97, while two-time Rangeland Derby champion Jason Glass held onto the all-important third position with a nine-day aggregate of 10:52.11. Logan Gorst finished fourth overall, missing the Championship Final by 4.17 seconds, while Chad Fike placed fifth, just 4.21 seconds shy of Glass for the final Championship Final berth.

On the night, Jamie Laboucane’s Panorama Advisory Group outfit claimed the Kirk’s Trail Tire Wheels on Fire Fast Time of the Night with a run of 1:11.01 from barrel number two in the ninth heat. His time was 63 one-hundredths of a second quicker than Jason Glass, who also competed in Heat 9. Ross Knight finished third on the night, followed by Chanse Vigen in fourth and Troy Dorchester in fifth. It marked Laboucane’s fourth Fast Time of the Night during the 2026 Calgary Stampede.
