WPCA LOOKS TO HIRE A GENERAL MANAGER

The World Professional Chuckwagon Association promotes and presents the sport of Chuckwagon racing to fans throughout Western Canada. The World Professional Chuckwagon Association (WPCA) is the highest level of professional chuckwagon racing in Western Canada.

The WPCA is looking to fill the position of General Manager.

The WPCA General Manager will be responsible and accountable to the WPCA Board. The General Manager will be responsible for the execution and management of all WPCA business operations including, but are not limited to:

• Management of personnel (Staff, Contractors, Judges/Race Personnel)
• Negotiation, management and stewardship of major tour sponsorships
• Establishment of contracts with race venues
• Media Relations
• Management of race operations and competitors
• Development and management of annual operating budget

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

• Post secondary degree in business, communications, marketing, or related field or relevant experience.
• Strong written and oral communications
• Critical thinking with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Travel throughout Alberta, and into B.C. and Saskatchewan would be required
• 7 + years experience, including management and sales experience
• Experience should include:
  • Project management
  • Leadership
  • Implementing change
  • Contract negotiation
  • Building strong collaborative relations with stakeholders
  • Public relations
  • Budget management
  • Ability to multi-task and work in fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple deadlines
  • Ability to exercise tact, discretion and good judgment
• Background in western events preferred
