Requests for tickets to the 2023 WPCA Awards Banquet have exceeded expectations and surpassed the seating capacity of the original venue.
In an effort to offer everyone interested the opportunity to be part of the WPCA Year End Celebration, organizers have relocated the Awards Banquet.
The WPCA Awards Banquet will now be held in the Grey Eagle Casino Event Centre on November 4th.
Those in attendance will recognize faces from the current competitor list and the past.
Retired outrider Dale Gray will receive the “Past Member Tribute” sponsored by the Ranchmans. Dale competed for 5 decades and made a positive impact on and off the track.
One of the future stars in chuckwagon racing is outrider Weston Sutherland. In 2023 Weston outrode the full season and threw stove for his dad Mitch and grandfather Kirk. Weston finished the year with 2024 points and will cap it off by receiving the Top Rookie Outrider Award sponsored by Revolution Hot Tubs.
The 3rd outrider to be recognized is one of the sports best. Ethan Motowylo has proven that drivers can count on him to hold their lead team and get the job done. In 2023, Ethan recorded 9728 points to win the World Champion Outriding Title. A bronze and trophy buckle sponsored by Connect First Credit Union will be presented to the outriding champion at the banquet.
Among the drivers to be recognized are “World Champion” Chanse Vigen, “Top Rookie Driver” Todd McCracken and for the second year in a row, Jason Glass will receive the “Clean Driver Award.”
Six horses will be recognized for their outstanding performance in 2023 through the Equine Outfit of Excellence sponsored by Import Tool Corp. The Equine Outfit of Excellence is one of the most prestigious awards in chuckwagon racing. Two outriding horses, and 1 horse from each of the 4 positions will be recognized.
Over 20 awards will be presented including the Most Improved Driver, Most Improved Outrider, Show Committee of the Year and the 2023 Jim Bottomley WPCA Chuckwagon Person of the Year.
Attendees will enjoy a buffet style meal and an evening with WPCA members, friends, families and sponsors.
