It was a fantastic night of racing on night 2 of the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede. It was a hot dry night with perfect racetrack conditions and some outstanding chuckwagon races were witnessed by a near capacity crowd. When the night wrapped up, it was Vern Nolin, who had the fast run of the race meet so far after posting a 1:02.57.
Coming off barrel number 2 in heat number 10, Nolin, driving the McCaw's Drilling & Blasting Ltd. outfit placed first overall for the day by 32 one-hundredths of a second over former Medicine Hat Champion Evan Salmond who placed 2nd on the night. Chance Flad, Kirk Sutherland and Obrey Motowylo rounded out the top 5 fastest times for the night.
The day money run puts Vern Nolin atop the overall aggregate standings with a two day total time of 2:07.82. That puts him just 16 one-hundredths of a second better than defending champion Kurt Bensmiller, with day one winner Rae Croteau Jr. holding onto third place overall. Chad Fike sits just 4 one-hundredths of a second out of that ever important third hole with Kirk Sutherland filling out the tp five overall after two runs.
The top 3 drivers in the aggregate standings after Saturday night will go into Sunday’s championship final heat. Winner of Sunday’s final will win the 2022 Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede Championship.
Day 3 of the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede can be heard live on Saturday, June 18, 2022 starting at 9:00pm Eastern, 8:00pm Central, and 7:00pm Mountain time on Real Country 910am.
