(L-R): Kim Graham, driver Jerry Bremner, Keith Graham
The World Professional Chuckwagon Association is saddened by the passing of valued supporter Kim Graham, who died on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the age of 68.
Born on August 23, 1957, in Ponoka, Alberta, Kim was deeply rooted in Western heritage from an early age. His great-grandfather was among the founders of the Ponoka Stampede, and growing up on a farm west of Ponoka, Kim developed a lifelong passion for rodeo and chuckwagon racing, along with a strong sense of Western pride and values.
While Kim built a successful career in Alberta’s oil industry, he also became a respected entrepreneur. In 1992, alongside his brother Keith, he co-founded TrailBlazer RV Centre, which grew into one of Western Canada’s premier RV dealerships.
Kim’s involvement in chuckwagon racing began in 1994 through his oilfield consulting business, when he connected with driver Bert Croteau, who was seeking sponsorship for a second wagon on the Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Association circuit. Recognizing the opportunity, Kim encouraged Keith to get involved, marking the beginning of TrailBlazer RV Centre’s long-standing commitment to the sport. The company continued its sponsorship with Bert until 1999, when his son, Rae Croteau Jr., launched his career, with TrailBlazer RV Centre proudly serving as his first canvas sponsor.
In the mid-1990s, the World Professional Chuckwagon Association returned to Edmonton, and once again Kim saw an opportunity. It was through a win at a poker game, Keith secured first pick of five available drivers for the Klondike Chuckwagon Derby and selected Jerry Bremner. That choice sparked a professional partnership that lasted until Bremner’s retirement in 2015, and a personal friendship that endures. Together, they celebrated numerous milestones, including the World Chuckwagon Championship in 2003, back-to-back Grande Prairie Stompede titles in 2007 and 2008, and many WPCA honors over a remarkable twenty-year sponsorship.
Over the years, TrailBlazer RV Centre also supported drivers Edgar Baptiste, Jim Nevada, Cody Fraser, and Layne MacGillivray. The company further demonstrated its commitment as title sponsor of the Ponoka Stampede’s $50,000 Tommy Dorchester Championship Final Heat from 2015 to 2019. In addition, Kim’s company, Kim Graham Oilfield Consulting Ltd., supported driver Léo Tournier at the Ponoka Stampede in 2008, and later Jerry Bremner at a few stops along the WPCA Pro Tour. In recognition of their contributions, TrailBlazer RV Centre received the WPCA Active Supporter Award in 2016.
Beyond sponsorship, Kim gave his time and leadership to the sport, serving as an officer on the WPCA Board of Directors in 2003 and 2004. He remained a dedicated supporter of WPCA charitable initiatives throughout his life, playing a key role in fundraising efforts for “Crystal Kids†and helping raise awareness for the children’s charity through the chuckwagon community and the Ponoka Stampede.
Kim will be remembered for his generosity, community spirit, and unwavering support of the sport he loved.
Kim is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Coleen; his son Chris (Cassandra) and their children Kaia and Koa; his daughter Rae-anne Powers (Mike); his father Don Graham; his sister Terry Graham; his twin brother Keith Graham (Laura); his in-laws Herman and Lola Neufeld; his sister-in-law Jan Belzile (Bruno); his brother-in-law Don Bouschard; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his mother, Myrt Graham, in 2014.
A service will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Stagecoach Saloon in Ponoka, Alberta.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wetaskiwin Health Foundation in support of its campaign to revitalize palliative care suites.
