The start of the 2023 race season is still 6 months away, however, the action behind the scenes continues in preparation for the first horn in Grande Prairie later in May.
One of the new additions for 2023 is a 5 show team series that will feature 5 teams with 4 drivers per team. The teams and show locations are determined based on where a Western Wear Retailer is located and who meet the Roper Apparel and Footwear marketing requirements. In fact, it was former WPCA driver and Roper Canada’s top dog, Jim Nevada, who came up with the idea.
“Teams will be picked by a representative from the retailer and the show committee” says Jim, “We want to reward drivers for results but also their marketability and professionalism.”
While the WPCA Pro Tour standings and results are all determined based on running times and points, the team series itself will have a separate point system that will include bonus points based on professionalism and other criteria.
The draft to pick drivers will take place in January of 2023.
More information on the Team Series will be announced in the new year.
