It was a warm but cloudy night in High River, Alberta as day 2 of the Battle of the Foothills was run on Friday night. When the night wrapped up, it was 2022 Calgary Stampede Cowboys Rangeland Derby Champion Kris Molle who emerged with the top time of the night after a fast run of 1:16.59.

Coming off barrel number 2 in heat number 9, Molle, driving the The Mavericks & Spolumbo’s Deli & Fine Foods outfit, was the fast man on the night by a small 1 one-hundredth of a second margin second over 2022 North American Chuckwagon Champion Dustin Gorst who settled for second place on the night. Kurt Bensmiller placed third, Chad Fike was fourth, and injured driver Cody Ridsdale’s outfit, which is being driven by Doug Irvine, rounded out the top 5 runs on the night.

After 2 days, Kris Molle also tops the overall aggregate standings after a 2 run total of 2:34.63. That puts him 1.32 seconds in front of Dustin Gorst, with Chad Fike, Obrey Motowyklo and Rae Croteau Jr. filling out the top 5 overall. The driver posting the best 4-day aggregate time after Sunday’s run will be declared the champion of the 2022 Battle of the Foothills.
