After a successful Battle of the Foothills in High River, Alberta last week, the WPCA Pro Tour resumed Friday night in Strathmore for the Strathmore Stampede where Chance Bensmiller came into this years event as the defending champion. It was a hot summer evening, track conditions were very good, and the newest Calgary Stampede champion Kris Molle continued his hot hand and set the pace by cashing in first prize on the night.
From barrel position number 1 in the 9th heat, Molle, driving the Chariot Express outfit, posted the fast time of the night with a run of 1:16.84. Second place on the night went to 3-time Strathmore champion Kurt Bensmiller, just 28 one-hundredths of a second behind the Molle wagon, with Layne MacGillivray, Vern Nolin, and Rae Croteau Jr. rounding out the top five on the night. The driver posting the best 4-day aggregate time will be crowned the 2022 Strathmore Stampede Champion.
Night 2 of Strathmore Stampede can be heard on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 9:00pm ET, 8:00pm CT and 7:00pm MT on Real Country 910am.
