Jamie Laboucane – Top Spot On Night 3 In Calgary

A downpour just before the start of night 3 of the Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby presented by Play Alberta made for slower racetrack conditions, but close finishes and exciting racing was the order of the day. Another capacity crowd was on hand to watch the chuckwagon races, and upon the night’s conclusion, Jamie Laboucane, driving the Panorama Advisory Group Inc. outfit, posted the fast run of the night with a run of 1:13.79.
Coming off barrel number 2 in the 9th heat, Laboucane won the day money by 44 one-hundredths of a second over Chanse Vigen who placed second for the third consecutive night. Obrey Motowylo placed third, Kris Molle was fourth, with Ross Knight rounding out the top five on the night.
Now three consecutive second-place runs in three nights has Chanse Vigen on top of the leaderboard in the overall aggregate standings with a three-day total of 3:38.79. That puts him just 23 one-hundredths of a second ahead of day 3 winner Jamie Laboucane who now has had three top three runs in three nights, with Rae Croteau Jr. holding down third spot overall. 2022 Rangeland Derby Champion Kris Molle sits fourth and Evan Salmond now occupies fifth place overall.
The top 3 in the aggregate after Saturday, July 12, 2025, will go into the championship final heat. The winner of the championship final heat will be declared the 2025 Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby presented by Play Alberta Champion.
