It was a warm, rainy, and windy Saturday night in High River, Alberta for the third run in the 2025 Battle of the Foothills. It was the final night for the drivers to try and qualify for the Championship Final Heat on Sunday afternoon. When the evening was complete, Chanse Vigen, Evan Magee, Dustin Gorst and Cruise Bensmiller will be the four drivers bidding for the 2025 Battle of the Foothills Championship.

Despite some heavy rains that appeared at the midway point of the chuckwagon races and slowed the racetrack down considerably, Chanse Vigen maintained his position on top of the overall aggregate standings with a three-day combined time of 3:47.08. Evan Magee, who began the day in 12th place overall, posted the fast time of the race meet and jumped up ten places to qualify for his first WPCA Championship Final Heat in second place overall. Dustin Gorst who was just on the outside looking in moved up from fifth to third place overall, with Cruise Bensmiller jumping from 11th place overall to grab the fourth and final qualifying spot in Sunday’s Championship Final.  Layne MacGillivray made a serious bid for a spot in Sunday’s final, jumping four places in the standings, but came up placing fifth overall and missed the championship final heat by 56 one-hundredths of a second.

On the day and as mentioned previously, it was Evan Magee, driving the Farmboy Landscaping & Maintenance outfit, who took the Alberta AG Centre Fast Time of the Night after posting not only the fast time on the night, but fastest of the race meet so far with a run of 1:14.6 from barrel number four in heat number one. Magee was the fast time by a large 1.02 second margin over Chanse Vigen who placed second. Dustin Gorst placed third, with D.J. King in fourth and Chance Flad rounding out the top five fastest runs for night number three.

The finals of the Battle of the Foothills can be heard live on Sunday afternoon at 6:00pm ET, 5:00pm CT and 4:00pm MT on 96.5 The Ranch, or streaming options are available through the WPCA Website at wpca.com, iHeart Radio website/app or the Radioplayer Canada website/app.
