The High River Stampede Breakfast recently announced a new collaboration with the High River Agricultural Society and the World Professional Chuckwagon Association (WPCA) to make this year’s Soap Box Chuckwagon Competition bigger and better than ever.
Taking place on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at George Lane Memorial Park, the annual community celebration will feature the return of the wildly popular Soap Box Chuckwagon Parade and Races, now enhanced with the support and involvement of professional Chuckwagon racing leaders from the WPCA.
This year’s competition will see 16 teams, each made up of a driver and two outriders, compete in four heats of four teams. The top team from each heat will earn an exclusive and unforgettable experience, including:
· An invitation to participate in the Battle of the Foothills “Dash for Cash†on Sunday.
·        A behind-the-scenes barn tour with professional Chuckwagon drivers and their teams.
· Tickets for the team and two adults to Sunday’s main event.
· Official event swag from the High River Stampede Breakfast, WPCA, and High River Agricultural Society.
The excitement culminates on Sunday, July 26, where the four qualifying teams will race for the championship in front of a live audience at the Battle of the Foothills. The winning team will take home $100.00 and a limited-edition Championship Buckle from Olsen Silver.
Brenda Walsh, Soap Box Chuckwagon Organizer, says the event continues to gain momentum. “Each year this event grows, and the community gets more involved. This is only the second year of the Soap Box Chuckwagons, and the excitement has been building since last year.â€
Liz Ellwood, Events Coordinator for the High River Agricultural Society, highlighted the importance of the partnership. “We are pleased to be part of this event as it aligns perfectly with the Battle of the Foothills and the WPCA. It’s a fantastic way to get young people involved in the sport.â€
Bryan Hebson, Marketing Manager for the WPCA, shared his enthusiasm following last year’s success. “After witnessing last year’s Soap Box Chuckwagon Races and the excitement on the kids’ faces, I was sold. WPCA drivers and outriders will play a big role in this year’s races and will be available for autographs. The final championship race on Sunday in front of the crowd will be the perfect finishing touch to the weekend.â€
The Soap Box Chuckwagon Races have quickly become a signature attraction of the High River Stampede Breakfast, blending community spirit with the heritage and thrill of Chuckwagon racing in a fun, family-friendly format.
Event Schedule:
Saturday, July 25, 2026 – Soap Box Chuckwagon Parade & Races at George Lane Memorial Park
Sunday, July 26, 2026 (4:00 PM) – Championship “Dash for Cash†at the Battle of the Foothills
This collaboration marks an exciting step forward in building community engagement and inspiring the next generation of Chuckwagon enthusiasts.
