It was one of the most exciting evenings that chuckwagon racing has seen over the season, Night 4 of the Wild West WPCA World Chuckwagon Finals was everything the fans expected and more. There was a lot on the line, and the excitement did not disappoint.

When it all played out, Jason Glass, Jamie Laboucane, Chanse Vigen and Chad Fike survived the Century Downs “Winners’ Zone” Series Playoff round and will comprise the Championship Final Heat where they will be racing for $50,000.00 cash and the prestige of being recognized as the Century Downs “Winners’ Zone” Series Champion – at one of chuckwagon racing’s most prestigious venues Ponoka.

Jason Glass finished in first place in the Century Downs “Winners’ Zone” Championship Playoff round after collecting 55 points. Jamie Laboucane was second with 50 points, Chanse Vigen held onto third place overall with 43 points, while Chad Fike grabbed the final qualifying spot with 42 points. Reigning Ponoka Stampede Champion Luke Tournier missed out by 4 points and finished fifth overall. Kurt Bensmiller, Rae Croteau Jr., Wade Salmond, Kris Molle, Layne MacGillivray, Cruise Bensmiller and Obrey Motowylo were the other drivers who also qualified for the playoff round.

The first title at the Wild West WPCA World Chuckwagon Finals has been handed out as Jason Glass, driving the Birchcliff Energy outfit, and along with outriders Dayton Sutherland and Tyson Whitehead won the Wild West WPCA World Chuckwagon Finals Aggregate Championship.

Glass and crew captured the Aggregate portion of the Wild West WPCA World Chuckwagon Finals after posting the best 4-day aggregate time of 4:57.56. That put him 1.77 seconds faster than Jamie Laboucane, with Chad Fike, Chanse Vigen and Luke Tournier filling out the top five in the overall aggregate standings.

For the second consecutive year, the World Chuckwagon Championship went to Chanse Vigen. Vigen won his second World Championship as a chuckwagon driver by 72 points over Jason Glass. Rae Croteau Jr. placed third overall, with Jamie Laboucane in fourth and Chad Fike placing fifth overall.

In one of the closest races in history, Ethan Motowylo won a hotly contested battle for the World Outriding Championship over three-time World Champion Outrider Rory Gervais. Like Chanse Vigen, it is the second consecutive World Championship for outrider Ethan Motowylo.

On the night, and for the second consecutive night, Jason Glass and his Birchcliff Energy rig grabbed the day money after posting a run of 1:12.88 from barrel number 2 in the 9th heat. Chad Fike placed second, with Kurt Bensmiller, Evan Salmond and Rae Croteau Jr.  making out the five fastest times on the evening.
