Final Four Set For 2023 Grande Prairie Stompede Championship Final Heat

Weather and racetrack conditions were much improved for night four of the Grande Prairie Stompede. It was the final night for the drivers to try and qualify for Sunday’s $35,000.00 Championship Final Heat where the winner will take home the Grande Prairie Stompede Championship. When things wrapped up, Chanse Vigen, Kurt Bensmiller, Rae Croteau Jr. and Ross Knight will be the four drivers bidding for the championship.

Chanse Vigen, driving the Sundown Oilfield Services Ltd. outfit, qualified for Sunday’s final in first place overall with a four day combined time of 5:11.72. Kurt Bensmiller qualified in second place overall, 5.38 seconds behind the aggregate winner Vigen, with Rae Croteau Jr. and Ross Knight qualifying in third and fourth place respectively. Former Calgary Stampede Champion Logan Gorst narrowly missed the winner-take-all final by just 7 one-hundredths of a second.

As far as day results are concerned, Rae Croteau Jr. posted the fast time of the night from barrel one in the tenth heat. Croteau’ s Cinch Oilfield Hauling Ltd. outfit placed first on the day by 1.57 seconds over Codey McCurrach, with Chanse Vigen, Dustin Gorst and Kurt Bensmiler filling out the top five on the night..

The Finals of the Grande Prairie Stompede can be heard live Sunday night, June 4, 2023 on Real Country 910 starting at 7:00pm Mountain Time. As well, fans can watch the races live on the watch.wpca.comstreaming platform.
