Final Four Set At 2021 Battle Of The North; Mitch Sutherland Drives Kirk Sutherland’s Rig To The Top Time On Night Four

The final 4 that will compete in Sunday’s Championship Final Heat to decide the 2021 Battle of the North Championship has now been set. Obrey Motowylo, Kurt Bensmiller, Kris Molle and Kurt Bensmiller’s wagon #2 will battle it out for the 2021 championship of Dawson Creek, British Columbia.

Obrey Motowylo drove the Vold Jones & Vold Auction Co Ltd. – Dawson Creek outfit to a first place overall aggregate finish after posting the best 4-day aggregate time of 4:59.58. Kurt Bensmiller qualified in 2nd place overall 47 one-hundredths of a second behind the leader Obrey Motowylo. Kris Molle qualified in 3rd place overall, while Kurt Bensmiller’s wagon #2 held onto 4th place overall to grab the final spot in Sunday’s final. Layne MacGillivray placed 5th overall and missed a spot in Sunday’s final by just 12 one-hundreds of a second.

As far as the day results go, Mitch Sutherland, handling the lines of his father Kirk Sutherland’s Hodge Pressure Services Ltd./Daler Pressure Services Ltd. Outfit, posted the top time of the night with a run of 1:13.94 from barrel number 4 in the 4th heat. Obrey Motowylo was 18 one-hundredths of a second behind the day winner Sutherland.  Evan Salmond, Layne MacGillivray and Chance Thomson rounded out the top five runs on the evening.

The finals of the Battle of the North Championship from Dawson Creek, British Columbia for the Battle of the North will be run on Sunday, August 15, 2021.
