Chanse Vigen – Track Record Run On Night 3 In Dawson Creek

Weather and racetrack conditions were absolutely perfect for night 3 at the Battle of the North at Mile “0†on the Alaska Highway in Dawson Creek British Columbia. Temperatures was a comfortable 23°C, combined with fast racetrack conditions and a fantastic crowd, and the result was as new track record set by Chanse Vigen to take the Alberta AG Centre Fast Time of the Night after recording a run of 1:12.06.
From barrel number 4 in the 9th heat, Vigen bettered the old track record of 1:12.71 set by Rae Croteau Jr. back in 2015 by 65 one-hundredths of a second win first place on the night. Chance Bensmiller placed second on the night, 1.49 seconds behind Vigen’s track record run. Former Battle of the North Champion Ross Knight grabbed third, Evan Salmond was fourth and Obrey Motowylo filled out the top five times on the night.
With just one run go to try and make the top four and a spot in Sunday’s final, Chanse Vigen’s track record run has lifted his Volker Stevin Canada outfit into the lead in the overall aggregate standings with a three-day aggregate time of 3:40.40. Chance Bensmiller sits second, 1.38 seconds behind the overall leader Chanse Vigen. Obrey Motowylo moved into 3rd place overall, and Evan Salmond holds down 4th place overall. Jason Glass is in 5th place overall, just 30 one-hundredths of a second out of 4th place overall.
The top driver in the aggregate after Saturday night will get a one-year lease of a 2025 GMC Truck courtesy of Banister GM Dawson Creek. The top 4 drivers in the aggregate after Saturday’s run will go into $30,000.00 Championship Final Heat where the winner will be crowned the 2025 Battle of the North Champion.
