Chad Fike – 1st Place On 1st Night In Calgary

Rangeland Derby 101 kicked off on Friday nightin Calgary. It was a hot summer for racing, running times were very good, and some great races were witnessed by a large opening night crowd. Layne MacGillivray came into this year’s event as the defending champion, but upon the night’s conclusion, it was Chad Fike, driving Summit Fleet outfit, who opened up Stampede 2024 with the top time of 1:11.08.
Coming off barrel number 3 in the 9th heat, Fike won the day money by just exactly half second over Jason Glass. Rae Croteau Jr. was third, Obrey Motowylo grabbed fourth place on the night with Jamie Laboucane rounding out the top five on opening night.
The top 3 in the aggregate after Saturday, July 13, 2024, will go into the championship final heat. The winner of the championship final heat will be declared the 2024 Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby Champion.
