Covid-19 and government restrictions earlier this year forced the cancellation of multiple WPCA events scheduled for 2021. One of those events was the WPCA Pro Tour event in Rocky Mountain House, known to chuckwagon racing fans as the Battle of the Rockies.
With the uncertainty of sponsorship support and no clear understanding of what Covid-19 restrictions would look like in August, the Rocky Mountain Chuckwagon Association made the difficult decision in the spring to cancel their scheduled August event. Since then the Covid-19 atmosphere and restrictions have significantly changed. Sponsors, fans and competitors have rallied to overcome challenges like the Calgary Stampede’s shocking extraction of chuckwagon racing from their 2021 show and work together to build a 2021 WPCA race season that will pave the way for big things in 2022.
Earlier this week, the World Professional Chuckwagon Association and the Rocky Mountain Chuckwagon Association confirmed a 3 day race agreement. The WPCA races will run August 20th, 21st and 22nd. Thursday August 19th will feature Family Movie Night under the new covered grandstand to kick it all off.
The After Party at the Broken Spoke Saloon located just North of the grandstand will feature Drew Gregory on Friday night and Renegade Station on Saturday night.
