The final chuckwagon canvas auction for the 2019 WPCA Pro Tour took place for one of chuckwagon racing’s premier events – the Ponoka Stampede – on Friday, May 3, 2019 at the Stagecoach Saloon on the Ponoka Stampede grounds in Ponoka, Alberta. Prime advertising space was available on the wagons of the best 36 chuckwagon drivers in the world today on chuckwagon racing’s predominant racing circuit. Overall it was a very good sale as the 2019 total was a very strong $376,250.00.
Reigning World and former Ponoka Stampede Champion Kurt Bensmiller was the sale topper taking in $25,000.00 and will partner up with Versatile Energy Services. This equalled the top bid from the 2018 sale for the six-day show that starts June 26, 2019. The average bid was $10,451.39, with the median bid at an even $9,625.00 which was up $1,625.00 over the 2018 median bid.
In less than one month, the wagons roll into Grande Prairie, Alberta with the first stop on the WPCA Pro Tour from May 29 – June 2, 2019 with the running of the Grande Prairie Stompede.
