The safety of the equine athletes is the top priority for the World Professional Chuckwagon Association and the High River Agricultural Society.
We are currently consulting with veterinarians to evaluate equine safety with the reduced air quality. The current Air Quality Health Index from Environment Canada is 10. We know from consulting with the veterinarian that at an index of 10, racing is not recommended.
It is currently forecasted for air quality to worsen by this evening. The World Professional Chuckwagon Association and the High River Agricultural Society are scheduled to meet with the veterinarian at 2:00PM today to do another review of the current air quality index and the forecasted evening index and together make a decision regarding this evenings races at that time.
