On March 16th, chuckwagon racing fans, sponsors and competitors will converge on Grande Prairie, Alberta for the 2024 Grande Prairie Stompede Tarp Auction Gala and Fundraiser.
Grande Prairie is surrounded by loyal chuckwagon racing fans and is home to current and former competitors and champions.
The Grande Prairie Stompede will run from May 29th through June 2nd. 40 drivers will compete in 10 heats nightly. All 40 drivers will be up for auction with companies and pooled groups bidding for the rights to advertise on a driver’s chuckwagon tarp during the Grande Prairie Stompede.
2023 Grande Prairie Champion Chanse Vigen is back to defend his title. Making his home in Calgary, Alberta, Vigen not only captured Grande Prairie last year, he also won the Ponoka Stampede and the Battle of the Rockies in Rocky Mountain House. His success didn’t stop there however. A World Title and 2 Equine Outfit of Excellence Awards for his Right Leader “Max” capped off a career season.
Of the 40 drivers, 32 of them automatically qualified for the 2024 WPCA Pro Tour based on their 2023 standings. The 8 permit drivers will be competing in Grande Prairie and Bonnyville for the last 4 spots to complete the 36 driver roster.
