George Streeper
August 25, 1938 – April 6, 2023
The World Professional Chuckwagon Association is grieving the loss of former Chuckwagon Judge George Streeper on on Thursday, April 6, 2023, from natural causes, at the age of 84 years.
George was the youngest born to Woods and Inga Streeper in Dawson Creek, British Columbia on August 25, 1938. Growing up in the Peace Country, George was exposed to the sport of chuckwagon racing and rodeos, combined with the fact that his hometown Dawson Creek Fall Fair was the “Greatest Show in the Peace,” George became a lifelong fan from a very early age, and rarely, if ever, missed a Dawson Creek Fall Fair. His older brother Doug became actively involved in the chuckwagon races in the early 1970’s as a sponsor for chuckwagon drivers Ron Morton and Dave Lewis, which gave George even more of a reason to follow the chuckwagon races in particular, and in the 1980’s George drove pony chuckwagons for six years.
After selling his business in 2007, George began a new career as a Chuckwagon Judge with the World Professional Chuckwagon Association (WPCA) starting in 2008. For six years George and his wife Florence travelled the WPCA Pro Tour and George was a dedicated member of the WPCA Judging Team. George was well respected by his fellow judges and chuckwagon competitors alike, and had the reputation for having a thorough knowledge of the sport whose contributions to the judging team ensured overall fair and efficient judging and racing. He retired from judging with the WPCA following the 2013 race season. Even after retiring, George and Florence remained lifelong fans of chuckwagon racing and the WPCA.
