WPCA NOW HIRING FOR RACE TIMER POSITION

The World Professional Chuckwagon Association is preparing for the excitement of the 2020 WPCA Pro Tour Presented by GMC and we have an opportunity for someone to join the WPCA Race Personnel Team.

The WPCA Race Personnel play a major role in the execution and professionalism of every WPCA event.

We are currently looking for a positive, detail oriented, professional individual to join the WPCA race personnel team as “Race Timer”

The WPCA Race Timer is responsible for the smooth operation of the WPCA timing equipment, must be able to work comfortably with computers and be able to collaborate effectively with other team members.

The WPCA timer is the official WPCA resource for all timing related responsibilities.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Safely storing and transporting all timing equipment
  • Transporting, setting up and operating all timing equipment
  • Communicating with the Race Secretary
  • Setting up and tearing down of all timing equipment nightly
  •  Setting up the program properly Prior to Races (Heats & Drivers
  •  Ensuring that all races are clocked all to 1/100ths of a second
  • Communicating all times to the race secretary after each race
  • Checking for any late outriders
  •  Setting up finish and outrider lines
  • Horn and Timing Camera tests before each race night
  • Provide times after each Heat and recorded on Day Sheet, record any penalties from judges, then sent to Race Secretary
  • Available for protests up to the end of the protest or judges inquiry process each race night
  • Available as requested to show the timing results

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Ability to multi-task
  • Possess a positive attitude
  • Strong Communication Skills (Verbal and Written)
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Responsible for own accommodation (eg. RV)

JOB TYPE – Seasonal (May through August)

COMPENSATION – $237.50/race day

In addition to the responsibilities outlined above, the TIMER is required to be onsite a minimum of two hours before race time and have all timing equipment set up and confirmed with WPCA management that it is in full working order a minimum of ONE HOUR prior to the first race nightly.
The TIMER is responsible for his/her own accommodation and travel to and from each event.
