CALGARY, AB – Today, the World Professional Chuckwagon Association (WPCA) and FortisAlberta announce a multiyear agreement recognizing the electricity distribution company as the Official Power Supply partner of the WPCA. The three-year agreement came into effect on Jan. 1, 2025.
The partnership brings together two organizations with deep roots in rural Albertan communities. FortisAlberta delivers safe and reliable electricity to over more than 240 communities and employs 1,300 Albertans across the province.
“We’re thrilled to continue our support of the World Professional Chuckwagon Association,” says Jamie Irving, Supervisor External Communications, FortisAlberta . “As the electricity provider for much of rural Alberta, our employees live and work in the same communities that the WPCA is part of. We’re proud to support an organization that brings communities together and celebrates Alberta’s unique western heritage.”
FortisAlberta’s relationship with the WPCA dates back 15 years, when the organizations first connected through the WPCA radio broadcasts on Rural Radio. Since then, the partnership has grown to multiple marketing platforms.
FortisAlberta owns and operates more than 131,000 kilometres of power line and 1.1 million power poles, representing approximately 60 per cent of Alberta’s electric distribution network. Over the past two decades, they have invested more than $5 billion in Alberta’s electricity distribution grid, creating jobs, sustainable growth and a more reliable system.
