A successful Battle of the Foothills wrapped up on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in High River, Alberta. When the times were tabulated, it was Chanse Vigen, driving the Volker Stevin/Glover International Trucks outfit, and along with outriders Ethan Motowylo and Rory Armstrong, who took the championship after posting the best 4-day aggregate time of 5:05.37. It’s the second time Vigen has won the High River crown, with his first coming in 2021.
Vigen, who has been in first place overall since winning the day money on opening night, completed a wire-to-wire victory with his second day money run in four runs. Vigen won the championship by 1.48 second margin over former World Champion Chuckwagon Driver Obrey Motowylo. Reigning Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby Champion Jason Glass placed third, defending champion Jamie Laboucane was fourth, and 2023 Dewberry World Chuckwagon Races Champion Chad Fike rounded out the top five overall in the aggregate standings.
As far as day times went, Chanse Vigen’s Volker Stevin/Glover International Trucks outfit, had the best time on the week with a run of 1:15.39 from barrel number 1 in the 8th heat. Second place went to Obrey Motowylo, followed by Jason Glass, Rae Croteau Jr., and Dustin Gorst completing the top five wagons on the day.
