With little over 3 weeks until the WPCA World Finals at the Century Downs Racetrack and Casino, the top 12 drivers who will qualify for the Winners’ Zone Series Showdown Round is starting to take shape.
There are still many battles to be won to occupy the top 12 spots. The last chance to qualify will be at the Battle of the Rockies in Rocky Mountain House and it will be a dog fight as drivers look to either clinch a spot or to move up in the standings.
The WPCA standings is loaded with superstar drivers who will continue to run fast right through until the end of the season. The current top 12 includes World Champions, Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby Champions and drivers who have horses recognized as Equine Outfit of Excellence Champions.
Will Kris Molle repeat as the Winners’ Zone Champion or will Kurt Bensmiller return to repeat his 2019 victory? Chanse Vigen and Jamie Laboucane have multiple show wins to their credit in 2023 and could add Winners’ Zone Champion on their resume. Vigen currently leads the world standings while Laboucane sits in 2nd place only 14 points behind.
The 12th and final spot currently has Rae Croteau Jr with 748 points. Chasing Croteau is Tuff Dreger who sits 13th with 628.5 points. Chance Thomson is also in the hunt with 622 points while Chance Flad has 602.
WINNERS’ ZONE FORMAT
