The third stop on the 2026 WPCA Pro Tour presented by GMC is in the books as the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede wrapped up on a beautiful Sunday afternoon with championship racing on a superb racetrack. The feature event was a classic Championship Final Heat featuring Chanse Vigen, Layne Flad and Logan Gorst. When the dust settled on an exciting finish, it was Chanse Vigen, driving the Volker Stevin Canada outfit, along with outriders Rory Gervais and Rory Armstrong, capturing the 2026 Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede Championship.
Starting from barrel position one in the Championship Final Heat, Vigen edged last week’s Bonnyville champion Logan Gorst by 57 one-hundredths of a second. Gorst, driving from barrel position two, finished second, while Layne Flad, making his first career Championship Final Heat appearance, crossed the line third from barrel position three. The victory marked a record third consecutive Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede title for Vigen.
On the day sheet, Dustin Gorst claimed the Kirk’s Trail Tire Wheels on Fire Fast Time of the Night from barrel position three in Heat 7. Driving the Century Downs Racetrack and Casino outfit, Gorst posted the fastest run of the afternoon, finishing 31 one-hundredths of a second ahead of new Medicine Hat track record holder Evan Magee. Luke Tournier recorded the third-fastest time of the day, followed by Obrey Motowylo in fourth and Preston Faithful in fifth.
