It was a cool and cloudy Friday night in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. But the grandstand was packed, the racetrack was fast, the excitement was hot, and some fantastic chuckwagons were the order for the day. By the time the evening wrapped up, and for the second consecutive night, the Alberta Ag Centre Fast Time Of The Night was a track record run set by Chanse Vigen to slightly increase his overall lead in the World Chuckwagon Standings.

From Barrel number one in heat number 9, Vigen’s Terrafirma Resources outfit posted a time of 1:12.48 and exceeded the track record he set just last night by 28 one-hundredths of a second. Obrey Motowylo was second on the night, just 7 one-hundredths of a second behind the track record time set by Chanse Vigen. Jason Glass, Kurt Bensmiller and Chad Fike rounded out the top five times on the night. As was the case last night four drivers bettered the previous track record with Vigen Motowylo, Glass and Bensmiller all posting times better that the track record of 1:12.76 set by Chanse Vigen on Thursday night. However, as impressive as the track record run might appear, Chanse Vigen only gained just two points on Jason Glass on the night, and has a 5.5 point lead over Glass in the chase for the World Chuckwagon Championship. Obrey Motowylo and Evan Salmond sit third and fourth respectively 46 and 55 points back of the overall leader Chanse Vigen. The World Champion Chuckwagon Driver and the World Champion Outrider will both be declared on Saturday night as the ones who accumulate the most number of points over the course of the season.

The track record run keeps Chanse Vigen on top of the overall aggregate standings with a three-run total of 3:42.99 and gives him a 1.86 second lead over Obrey Motowylo. Jason Glass has moved up into third place overall, with Kurt Bensmiller holding down fourth place overall. Jamie Laboucane slipped out of the top four and is now in fifth place overall and is 24 one-hundredths of a second outside of a possible spot in Sunday’s Championship Final Heat that will decide the Battle of the Rockies Championship. The top four drivers in the overall aggregate standings after Saturday night will go into the $25,000.00 Championship Final Heat to declare the champion of the Rocky Mountain House.

Day four of the WPCA World Chuckwagon Finals can be heard live on Saturday night, August 16, 2025, on WPCA Radio starting 8:45pm Eastern, 7:45pm Central, 6:45pm Mountain time, and 5:45pm Pacific time on 96.5 The Ranch, or streaming options are available through the WPCA Website at wpca.com, iHeart Radio website/app or the Radioplayer Canada website/app.
