The WPCA is pleased to announce a new partnership agreement with the Teepee Creek Stampede.  Teepee Creek is a farming and ranching community located 30 kilometers north-east of Grande Prairie, Alberta. Oil and Gas is a big part of the area however, it’s the Teepee Creek Stampede itself that energizes the region. In fact, the Teepee Creek Stampede has been a part of history for over 100 years.

The first Teepee Creek Stampede was held in 1917 and it has continued to evolve ever since.  In 1946 the first chuckwagon races were held.  Most recently, the Teepee Creek Stampede has hosted the All Pro Pony Chuckwagon Association and continues to do so. The Teepee Creek Stampede was also once a stop on the Western Chuckwagon Association tour.

The 103rd annual Teepee Creek Stampede was held in 2019. The small community set an attendance record with over 31,000 people attending the 4 day event.

The agreement between the Teepee Creek Stampede and the WPCA will provide drivers and their horses not invited to compete at the Calgary Stampede an opportunity to still race during that period of time.

As the sport of chuckwagon racing continues to navigate through various changes, it’s important for drivers and their horses to race. For drivers not competing at the Calgary Stampede, there would be a 23 day layoff from the last day of the Ponoka Stampede (July 1st) until the first day of the WPCA races in High River (July 24th).

The 2025 Teepee Creek Stampede is scheduled for July 10th through July 13th.  The Chuckwagon races will run for 3 days starting Friday July 11th.
