The final chuckwagon canvas auction involving WPCA drivers wrapped up Tuesday night for the Teepee Creek Stampede at the Jackpot Grill & Events Centre in Grande Prairie. The Teepee Creek Stampede, which first featured chuckwagon racing in 1946, runs opposite the final weekend of the Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby.
Fifteen drivers along with three Wildcard Wagons were put up for bid at the second consecutive WPCA canvas auction for the event. While the overall total was down $9,000 from 2025, the sale still proved successful with total bids reaching $83,250.
The top bid of the night went to former World Champion and two-time Calgary Stampede Champion Luke Tournier, whose tarp sold for $8,500 to Dynamic Energy Group Inc. for the three-day show beginning July 10, 2026. The average bid came in at $4,625, down $500 from last year, while the median bid was $3,875. Four drivers shared the low bid of $3,000.
