It was a dark Sunday night with periods of rain as the finals of the 2025 Grande Prairie Stompede Championship were run under a cool 10°C and cloudy skies. Racetrack conditions held up though and the Championship Final Heat featured Jason Glass, Preston Faithful, Obrey Motowylo and Logan Gorst. When the night wrapped up, it was Obrey Motowylo, driving the Dynamic Energy Group Inc. outfit, and along with outriders Ethan Motowylo and Hayden Motowylo that won the $20,000.00 winners’ cheque and the 2025 Grande Prairie Stompede Championship.

In a penalty-free Championship Final Heat, Motowylo won his third career Grande Prairie Stompede Championship with a penalty free run of 1:17.68 from barrel position number four, just 17 one-hundredths of a second faster than Aggregate Winner Jason Glass who placed second in the heat from barrel number two. Preston Faithful, who was making his debut in a WPCA Championship Final Heat, finished third from barrel position number one, while Logan Gorst ended up in fourth overall from barrel position number three.

As far as the day results are concerned, 2024 Grande Prairie Stompede Champion Jamie Laboucane had the Alberta AG Cente Fast Time of the Night with a run of 1:16.19 from barrel position number one in the opening heat of the evening. Laboucane’s Wild Rows Pump & Compression Ltd. outfit was 76 one-hundredths of a second better than Chanse Vigen who had to settle for second place on the night also from the first heat on the night. Obrey Motowylo’s championship run was also the third best on the night, with Jason Glass and Doug Irvine filling out the top five fastest times on the evening.

The WPCA Pro Tour presented by GMC will now move on to Bonnyville, Alberta for the running of the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship starting on Thursday, June 5 and running through to Sunday, June 8, 2025. Luke Tournier is the defending champion, and live coverage can be heard starting Thursday night, June 5, 2025 at 8:00pm Eastern, 7:00pm Central, and 6:00pm Mountain time on 96.5 The Ranch, or streaming options are available through the WPCA Website at wpca.com, iHeart Radio website/app or the Radioplayer Canada website/app.
