Night four of the World Chuckwagon Finals & Battle of the Rockies delivered one of the most exciting evenings of chuckwagon racing all season. With championship berths, major money and prestigious titles on the line, the intensity was high from the opening barrel to the final turn.
When the dust settled, Chanse Vigen, Obrey Motowylo, Jamie Laboucane and Jason Glass had earned their spots in the Kirk’s Trail Tire Series Championship Final Heat. The four drivers will battle for $28,000.00 in cash, a one-year lease on a GMC truck courtesy of Summit Fleet, and the distinction of being crowned Kirk’s Trail Tire Series Champion.
Vigen finished atop the Kirk’s Trail Tire Series Championship Playoff standings with 54 points. Motowylo followed with 48, while Laboucane held third with 47. Glass secured the final qualifying position with 42 points. Kurt Bensmiller narrowly missed the championship final, finishing fifth with 35 points, just seven points behind Glass. The other drivers who advanced to the playoff round were Luke Tournier, Cruise Bensmiller, Mitch Sutherland, Logan Gorst, Evan Salmond, Dustin Gorst and Rae Croteau Jr.
The first championship of the World Chuckwagon Finals & Battle of the Rockies has also been decided, with Chanse Vigen capturing the Battle of the Rockies Championship. Driving the Terrafirma Resources outfit with outriders Tyler DeSutter and Rory Gervais, Vigen posted the fastest four-day aggregate time of 4:57.91. Vigen finished 2.18 seconds ahead of Obrey Motowylo in the aggregate standings. Jamie Laboucane, Chad Fike and Jason Glass rounded out the top five.
For the second time in his career, Obrey Motowylo has been crowned World Chuckwagon Champion. Motowylo secured his second World Championship by a 76-point margin over Jason Glass. Vigen finished third overall, followed by Laboucane in fourth and Evan Salmond in fifth.
History was also made in the World Outriding Championship, where Rory Gervais captured his record-tying fifth World Outriding title. Gervais now joins Jim Shield, Dale Gray and Chanse Vigen as the only outriders to win five World Championships.
Chad Fike and his TOMCO Group of Companies outfit posted the Kirk’s Trail Tire Wheels On Fire Fast Time of the Night, stopping the clock in 1:12.32 from barrel number four in Heat 6. Vigen was second fastest on the evening, followed by Dayton Sutherland, Cruise Bensmiller and Chance Flad to complete the top five.
The final day of the 2026 WPCA Pro Tour gets underway Sunday afternoon, with live coverage on WPCA Radio beginning at 3:45 p.m. ET, 2:45 p.m. CT, 1:45 p.m. MT and 12:45 p.m. PT on 96.5 The Ranch.
