The 2024 edition of the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship is in the books, and Luke Tournier, driving the SITE Resource Group outfit, and along with outriders Rory Gervais and Quaid Tournier, captured the championship and the George Normand Memorial Buckle. It’s the third time Luke Tournier has captured the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship.
In a classic championship final heat, Luke Tournier won the championship with penalty free run of 1:18.07 from barrel position number 1. Local favorite Rae Croteau Jr. placed second from barrel number 4, 1.39 seconds behind the champion Tournier. Aggregate winner Chanse Vigen third from barrel position number 3, While Layne MacGillivray, who crossed the finish line first, but knocked over a barrel and placed fourth from barrel position number 2 and had to settle for fourth place.
As far as the day results go, 2024 Grande Prairie Stompede Champion Jamie Laboucane was the fast time of the night with a run of 1:17.32, champion Luke Tournier placed second, 75 one-hundredths of a second behind Laboucane, with Chance Flad, Dustin Gorst and Chad Fike making out the top five on the night.
The WPCA Pro Tour will now take one week off before embarking on Medicine Hat, Alberta and the running of the Medicine Hat Stampede from June 20-23, 2024.
