Weather conditions were warm and cloudy, track conditions were heavy, but close finishes were the order of the day as night three of the Battle of the Rockies was run in front of a capacity crowd on Saturday night in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. When the curtain closed on night 3, Luke Tournier grabbed his second day money in three days with the top run after posting a 1:22.17.

Coming off barrel 4 in heat number 7, Tournier, driving the Optimum Equipment Solutions outfit had the fast time of the night by a 32 one-hundredths of a second margin over Wade Salmond. Chanse Vigen placed third, Doug Irvine was fourth with Chance Thomson filling out the top five on the evening.

Looking to defend the Battle of the Rockies title he won last year, Chanse Vigen and his Terrafirma Resources outfit continue to lead the overall aggregate standings with a three-run total time of 4:03.35 and sits 1.38 seconds in front of Wade Salmond who jumped from seventh place at the start of the day into second place overall. Day money winner Luke Tournier sits 3rd overall, while Chance Thomson and Todd Baptiste are fourth and fifth overall respectively. The driver posting the best 4-day aggregate time after Sunday’s run will take home the 2024 Battle of the Rockies Championship, and the top twelve in the World Standings after the completion of the Battle of the Rockies will make the Century Downs Winner’s Zone Playoff Round.

The finals of the Battle of the Rockies from Rocky Mountain House, Alberta can be heard live Sunday night, August 18, 2024 at 2:00pm MDT on WPCA Radio on New Country 92.5 FM Drumheller, 93.3 FM Stettler, 105.7 FM Brooks, 94.9 FM Blairmore, 92.7 FM Pincher Creek.
