After a perfect night 1 weather wise at the 46th running of the Grande Prairie Stompede Championship in Grande Prairie, Alberta, night 2 was run under partly cloudy skies and a very comfortable 25°C. Afternoon rains only settled the dust, and track conditions were perfect, but former Grande Prairie Champion Luke Tournier put all that aside and posted the Alberta AG Cente Fast Time of the Night.

Coming off barrel number 2 in heat number 10, Tournier, driving the Pidherney’s outfit posted a time of 1:16.85 and won the day money by just 14 one-hundredths of a second over Jason Glass who placed 2nd overall running. Jordie Fike, Obrey Motowylo and Layne MacGillivray rounded out the top 5 for the night.

Day 2 winner Luke Tournier also leads the overall aggregate standings after posting a two-day time of 2:32.57. Jason Glass sits in second place overall with Obrey Motowylo and Preston Faithful rounding out the top four. Rae Croteau Jr. sits in fifth place overall, just one one-hundredth of a second out of the last qualifying spot in Sunday’s final.

The top wagon in the aggregate after Saturday’s run will receive the Ralph Vigen Memorial Award and the use of a 2025 GMC Truck for one year courtesy of Summit Fleet. The top 4 drivers in the aggregate after Saturday night will go into the $40,000.00 Championship Final Heat on Sunday where the winner will receive a big winner’s cheque and the 2025 Grande Prairie Stompede Championship.

Day 3 of the Grande Prairie Stompede can be heard live on WPCA Radio on Friday night, May 30, 2025, starting 6:45pm Mountain time on 96.5 The Ranch, or streaming options are available through the WPCA Website at wpca.com, iHeart Radio website/app or the Radioplayer Canada website/app. The Grande Prairie Stompede can also be watched live on the WPCA Livestream at watch.wpca.com.
