Kris Molle – Tops All On Night 2 In Bonnyville

It was a cool but comfortable night weather wise for night 2 of the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship. With a near capacity crowd was on hand, and some tremendous chuckwagon races were seen by the Bonnyville chuckwagon fans. When it was all said and done, Kris Molle posted the best time on the night after a penalty free run of 1:16.98.
From barrel number 2 in the sixth heat, Molle, driving the Benoit’s Oilfield Construction Outfit, was the fast man on the night by just 6 one-hundredths of a second over Dean Dreger who placed second on the night. Day 1 winner Obrey Motowylo grabbed third place on the night, while “The Hound” Codey McCurrach and Rae Croteau Jr. rounded out the top five on the night.
With one run to go to try and get into Sunday’s Championship Final Heat, Obrey Motowylo and his Choquet Insurance Group Ltd – The Co-operators Outfit leads the overall aggregate standings with a two-run total of 2:34.10. That puts him 45 one-hundredths of a second ahead of Kris Molle, with Rae Croteau Jr. and Codey McCurrach completing the top four. Dean Dreger is on the outside looking in, sitting fifth place overall, just 83 one-hundredths of a second out of the top four.
The top 4 wagons after Saturday’s run will compete in the Championship Final Heat on Sunday, where the winner will take home the 2023 Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship.
