Eighteen drivers that are not participating at the Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby presented by Play Alberta embarked on Teepee Creek, Alberta for one of chuckwagon racing’s oldest events – the Teepee Creek Stampede. Fast times were the recipe for the night, and when it was concluded, opening night saw Jordie Fike’s Full Force Ventures Ltd. outfit take the day money with a track record run of 0:56.89.
Coming off barrel number 1 in the sixth heat, Jordie Fike took the top time of the night by 29 one-hundredths of a second over injured driver Luke Tournier’s wagon which is being driven by his son Lane Tournier. 2024 WPCA Top Rookie Driver Dale Young placed third, while Doug Irvine’s #2 Wagon and Vern Nolin rounded out the top five for the night. Jordie Fike’s run beat the existing WPCA track record of 0:57.52 by 63 one-hundredths of a second set by Larry Clegg back in 1999.
The driver posting the best 3-day aggregate time will be crowned the 2025 Teepee Creek Stampede champion. The Teepee Creek Stampede will run through until Sunday, July 13, 2025.
