It’s been a warm one in Calgary for the third consecutive night as night 3 of the Cowboys Rangeland Derby ran on Sunday night under perfect racetrack conditions once again. When the dust finally settled, it was 2013 Champion Jason Glass who emerged with the fast time of the race meet after piloting his Birchcliff Energy Ltd. outfit to a rapid time of 1:10.78.
From barrel number 1 in the 8th heat, Glass was the top wagon on the night by 22 one-hundredths of a second over Rae Croteau Jr. who placed second for the night. Chad Fike was third on the night, with 2013 Champion Kris Molle and reigning World Champion Chanse Vigen splitting fourth and fifth on the night.
The day money run has increased Jason Glass overall lead in the aggregate standings with a three-day total of 3:34.17. That puts him exactly three-quarters of a second ahead of Rae Croteau Jr., who like Jason Glass has produced three-consecutive top three runs. Chad Fike is hanging on to that ever so important third place overall, with Chanse Vigen maintaining his position of fourth place overall, 1.02 seconds out of third hole, with 2024 Grande Prairie Stompede Champion Jamie Laboucane continuing to hod down fifth place overall after three nights.
Live coverage of day 4 of the 2024 Calgary Stampede Cowboys Rangeland Derby can be heard Monday night, July 8, 2024 on WPCA Radio starting 7:45pm Mountain time on New Country 910am and can be seen on Sportsnet One starting at 8:30pm local time. Check your local listings.
