After a successful run at the Grande Prairie Stompede, the WPCA Pro Tour embarked on Bonnyville with the running of the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship. Obrey Motowylo came into this year’s event as the defending champion. It was a very pleasant evening for a near capacity crowd, and when night one wrapped up it was Jason Glass who had the best time on the night after a penalty free run of 1:16.47.
Glass, driving the Birchcliff Energy Ltd. Outfit, was the only driver to break the 1:18.00 mark and had the top time on the night by a huge 1.53 second margin over Tuff Dreger who had to settle for second place on the night. Todd Baptiste placed third, while former Bonnyville champions Chanse Vigen and Luke Tournier rounded placed fourth and fifth respectively on the night.
The top four drivers in the aggregate standings after Saturday night will go into the $22,000.00 Championship Final Heat on Sunday afternoon. Winner of Sunday’s final will be declared the champion of the 2024 Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship.
Day 2 of the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship can be heard Friday, night, June 6, 2024 at 8:00pm Eastern, 7:00pm Central, and 6:00pm Mountain time on New Country 910.
