Jason Glass Kicks Off The 2025 Season With A Day Money Run

The professional chuckwagon season kicked off on Wednesday night with the 46th running of the Grande Prairie Stompede Championship in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Jamie Laboucane came into this year’s event as the defending Grande Prairie Stompede champion, while former Grande Prairie resident Chanse Vigen starts defending the World Chuckwagon Championship that he won for the second time in 2024.

Weather conditions were a hot 29°C with some wind gusts, track conditions were ideal and some fantastic chuckwagon races were seen by the Grande Prairie chuckwagon fans on opening night of the 2025 WPCA Pro Tour presented by GMC. When the night wrapped up it was two-time Grande Prairie Champion Jason Glass who ended up with the Alberta AG Cente Fast Time of the Night with a penalty free run of 1:15.68.

Coming off barrel number 4 in heat number 11, Glass, driving the Birchcliff Energy Ltd. outfit placed first overall for the day by just one one-hundreds of a second over defending Grande Prairie Stompede champion Jamie Laboucane who placed 2nd overall for the night from the same heat number 11. Luke Tournier, Preston Faithful and Obrey Motowylo rounded out the top 5 for the night.

The top wagon in the aggregate after Saturday’s run will receive the Ralph Vigen Memorial Award and the use of a 2025 GMC Truck for one year courtesy of Summit Fleet. The top 4 drivers in the aggregate after Saturday night will go into the $40,000.00 Championship Final Heat on Sunday where the winner will receive a big winner’s cheque and the 2025 Grande Prairie Stompede Championship.
