After a successful run at the Calgary Stampede, the WPCA Pro Tour resumed in High River for the running of Battle of the Foothills where Chanse Vigen came into this year’s event as the defending champion. It was a hot night for chuckwagon races, and the enthusiasm of the High River fans was second to none. When the night concluded, it was Jamie Laboucane who bested the field after a run of 1:14.81 to take home the Alberta Ag Centre Fast Time of the Night.

Coming off barrel number 2 in the 9th heat of the evening, Laboucane, driving the Wild Rows Pump & Compression Ltd. outfit, posted the top time of the night and placed first overall for the day by 64 one-hundredths of a second over former Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby Champion Kris Molle. Evan Magee was third, Preston Faithful placed fourth, and reigning Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby Champion Chanse Vigen rounded the top five on night.

The top 4 drivers after the first 3 nights of racing will qualify for Sunday’s Battle of the Foothills Championship Final Heat. The winner of Sunday’s Championship Final will be crowned the Battle of the Foothills Champion.

Day 2 of the Battle of the Foothills can be heard live on Friday night at 9:00pm ET, 8:00pm CT and 7:00pm MT on 96.5 The Ranch, or streaming options are available through the WPCA Website at wpca.com, iHeart Radio website/app or the Radioplayer Canada website/app.
