It was a hot August night, the grandstands were filled to the rafters, and racetrack conditions were once again excellent on night 2 of the Strathmore Stampede. When the sun finally set on Strathmore, it was Jamie Laboucane’s turn to take home the Alberta Ag Centre Fast Time of the Night after posting a very rapid 1:14.70.

From barrel number 4 in heat number 9, Laboucane, driving the Wild Rows Pump & Compression Ltd. Outfit, posted the fast time of the night, beating second place finisher Chanse Vigen by just 14 one-hundredths of a second. Evan Salmond placed third, with Lane Tournier and Troy Flad rounding out the top five on the night.

With just one run left to try to secure a spot in Monday’s Championship Final Heat, Chanse Vigen leads the overall aggregate standings with a two-run total of 2:29.06. That puts 48 one-hundredths of a second in front of Evan Salmond, with Jason Glass and Lane Tournier completing the ever so important top four. Layne Flad is on the outside looking in, just 34 one-hundreds of a second out of a spot in Monday’s Championship Final Heat, with Troy Flad just another 23 one-hundreds of a second behind Layne Flad.

The top four drivers in the aggregate standings after Sunday night will go into the $30,000.00 Championship Final Heat on Monday afternoon. The winner of Monday’s final will be declared the champion of the 2025 Strathmore Stampede.

Day 3 the Strathmore Stampede can be heard Sunday night, August 3, 2025 on WPCA Radio starting 9:00pm Eastern, 8:00pm Central, and 7:00pm Mountain time on 96.5 The Ranch, or streaming options are available through the WPCA Website at wpca.com, iHeart Radio website/app or the Radioplayer Canada website/app.
