It was another tremendous night of chuckwagon racing at the WPCA Pro Tour stop in High River for the Battle of the Foothills. Weather and racetrack conditions were excellent and the High River fans were treated to some spectacular chuckwagon races. When the sun settled on High River, it was the hometown hero the recently crowned Calgary Stampede Cowboys Rangeland Derby Champion Jason Glass who rose to the top with the fast time of race meet so far after posting a run of 1:15.47.
Coming off barrel number 1 in the 8th heat, Glass – driving the Birchcliff Energy Ltd. outfit – placed first on the night by three-quarters of a second over day 1 winner Chanse Vigen. Cody Ridsdale grabbed third place on the night, while Obrey Motowylo and Dustin Gorst plced fourth and fifth respectively on the night.
After two runs, Chanse Vigen and his Volker Stevin/Glover International Trucks outfit lead the overall aggregate standings with a total time of 2:32.22. That puts him 1.38 seconds ahead of day 2 winner Jason Glass, with Jamie Laboucane, Obrey Motowylo and Chad Fike filling out the top five overall, and in close pursuit of the leader Chanse Vigen. The driver posting the best 4-day aggregate time after Sunday afternoon’s run will be declared the 2024 Battle of the Foothills Champion.
