Jason Glass Delivers Fast Time on Opening Night in High River

After successful stops at the Calgary Stampede and Teepee Creek Stampede, the WPCA Pro Tour resumed Thursday night in High River for the opening night of the 2026 Battle of the Foothills. Chanse Vigen arrived looking to capture his third consecutive High River championship, but it was local favorite Jason Glass who stole the spotlight on a hot summer evening, recording the Kirk’s Trail Tire Wheels on Fire Fast Time of the Night with a run of 1:14.19.
Driving the Birchcliff Energy Ltd. outfit from barrel position number four in the eighth heat of the evening, Glass turned in a flawless performance to edge Chance Bensmiller by one-tenth of a second for the night’s top spot. Defending Battle of the Foothills champion Chanse Vigen finished third overall, while Troy Dorchester placed fourth. Former High River champions Kurt Bensmiller and Doug Irvine shared fifth place on opening night.
The top four drivers on the aggregate after the first three nights of racing will advance to Sunday’s Battle of the Foothills Championship Final Heat, where the winner will be crowned the 2026 Battle of the Foothills Champion.
