Night 3 of the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship was contested under cloudy skies, light rain, and a comfortable 16°C. With the final opportunity to qualify for Monday’s sudden-death Championship Final on the line, drivers battled for one of four coveted positions in the $25,000 winner-take-all showdown.

When the final times were calculated, Logan Gorst, Chanse Vigen, Darcy Flad, and Rae Croteau Jr. had secured their spots in Monday’s Championship Final Heat.

Driving the Flashpoint Electric Ltd. outfit, Gorst earned the top qualifying position with a three-day aggregate time of 3:53.68. Vigen qualified second overall, while Flad held onto third place. A strong performance by Croteau vaulted him into the fourth and final qualifying position. Fresh off his Grande Prairie Stompede Championship victory, Obrey Motowylo narrowly missed advancing, finishing fifth overall and just one one-hundredth of a second shy of a berth in the final.

On the evening, Rae Croteau Jr. and the Bar L-5 Ranch Ltd. outfit captured the Kirk’s Trail Tire Wheels on Fire Fast Time of the Night with a run of 1:17.87 from barrel number four in the tenth heat. His time was 25 one-hundredths of a second faster than Dayton Sutherland, who placed second on the night. Tuff Dreger, Logan Gorst, and Layne Flad rounded out the top five fastest runs.

The finals of the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship can be heard live on WPCA Radio on Monday, June 8, beginning at 8:00 p.m. Eastern, 7:00 p.m. Central, and 6:00 p.m. Mountain Time on 96.5 The Ranch.
