The past decade has seen Todd emerge among chuckwagon racing’s elite drivers. He was the CPCA Champion Driver in 2022 and 2019, and was the CPCA’s High Point Driver in 2019 and again in 2021. He qualified for the Rangeland Derby’s Championship Final for the first time in 2019, had a horse named to the Calgary Stampede’s Equine Athlete of Excellence, and has made the championship final for the CPCA Championship five out of the six years.
2024 was Todd’s first full season with the WPCA since 2003, and saw him post 9 top ten runs including two runs that cracked the top five. A sixth place overall finish at the Battle of the North was his best of the season.
Todd Started his career as an outrider with the CPCA in 1989 and that year he received the CPCA’s Top Rookie Outrider. He started driving with the WPCA in 1999, was the WPCA’s Top Rookie Driver, and outrode for his uncle Edgar Baptiste’s 1996 Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby championship outfit. He returned to the CPCA in 2004. He has won even CPCA Show championships, twice won the Bruce Bremner Award for Most Consistent Barreling Outfit, and won the CPCA’s Safe drive award in 2019.
Todd is a big game outfitter and works for S.O.R.E. Oilfield Services Inc. in the off season. Todd has six children – Kelsey, Jordi, Jazmin, Jaxon, Avery and Adalynn, and along with his wife Jade make their home on the Red Pheasant Cree Nation in Saskatchewan.
