Making his first full-time return to outriding since 2009, Ryan’s 2025 season was cut short by injury at the Strathmore Stampede. He had briefly returned in 2024, including a Championship Final appearance at the Century Downs WINNERS’ ZONE Series finale.
Ryan debuted at the Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby in 2006 under Mike Vigen and Chanse Vigen, earning World Professional Chuckwagon Association Top Rookie honours in 2007. He won the Ponoka Stampede in 2009 with Obrey Motowylo before transitioning to driving on the Western Chuckwagon Association (WCA). A third-generation competitor,
Ryan is part of a family that includes Bruce McAleney and Brian Lewis. He lives in Teepee Creek, Alberta, with his wife Lacey and their two children.
